70th National Double Barrel Championship 50T
WA shooters were up against some tough opposition. Many shot the perfect 50/50 in the event but unfortunately did not place after shoot-offs. The eventual winner was Dan Power (50/50-478/478).
Our Juniors stood strong, Jax Moffatt shot a very credible 49/50 in the event and shot off for B Grade and Sub-juniors but sadly did not place.
Jacko Butcher (below centre) shot 48/50 in the event and took out first in C Grade.
67th National Single Barrel Championship 100T
Jacko Butcher again shot well and placed third in C Grade.
60th National Points/ANZ Trap Championship 100T
There were some great scores posted by Team WA but with such heavy competition from across Australia, unfortunately, no WA shooter was placed.
61st National Double Rise Championship 50 Pair
Cameron Browne again shot an eye-watering 95/100 but did not place. It was tough competition out there.
72nd Grand Australian Handicap
There were three perfect rounds posted. Royce Normington shot an outstanding 49/50 and proceeded into the shoot-off with sixteen others. He placed eighth overall – another great achievement.
81st National Champion of Champions 75T
Yet again, Team WA performed at a high level, posting some exceptional scores.
Cameron Browne:124/125 (22/25), Sandra Moffatt: 120/125 Jax Moffatt: 117/125 – giving him second in B Grade and the outright win in the Sub-Junior category, Jacko Butcher: 112/125 (22/25) taking third in C Grade, and Jacinta Evans 110/125.
third place in C Grade
Two special achievements
One young lady stood out for her performance and achievement – Jacinta Evans from the Collie Clay Target Club was awarded the 2023 Trap Nationals Junior Encouragement Award (Sponsored by Collumb Shooting). She received a plaque and prizes.
Once again we applaud Cameron Browne. He placed equal 7th (705/725) in the 2023 All Australian Team.
This was an outstanding Nationals for WA competitors with some exceptional scores achieved. The competition was fierce and the results do not reflect the achievements of every member of Team WA.
The comradery within the group and the support for each other are a testament to the sportsmanship of our WACTA members.
