ACTA 2023 Skeet National Championships

Juniors

We have a few rising and shining stars in the WA Skeet arena. 

Our juniors, Jacko Butcher and Mason Bowles, although unable to compete in the Team event have shown their ability elsewhere.

 

Skeet Handicap Championship, Commonwealth Skeet Championship, & Skeet Postal Team – Juniors

Jacko was pipped at the post (by one target) in the Junior section for the Commonwealth Skeet. 

Mason Bowles, took out first in B Grade, and second in the Junior Section of the Commonwealth Skeet, and first in the Junior Skeet Postal Team. 

Congratulations – we look forward to watching you both rise through the skeet shooting ranks. Mason & Jacko will represent WA in the DTL Junior Team.

WA’s open shooters show their mettle in the Skeet Handicap Championship, Commonwealth Skeet Championship & Skeet Postal Teams.

Greg Schweikert shot a perfect 50/50 in the National Handicap Championships and went into the shoot-off with plus 2.  He took out second place (65+2/68), the winner was Michael Buttigieg (68/68).

Matthew De Paoli (Collie CTC) shot 100/100 in the Commonwealth Skeet Championship, as did Michael Buttigieg – Matthew triumphed and took the win in a shoot-off.

National  Skeet Postal Teams.  Again our shooters performed wellMatthew De Paoli was first in the open team, Shane O’Brien was also first – in the Veteran Team and, as mentioned, Mason Bowles was first in the Junior Team.

The West stood proud with the rest of Australia with some great shooting from all WA competitors. Greg Schweikert shot an amazing 98/100 in the Skeet Doubles and took out first in A Grade after a shoot-off for overall. Terry Marsden placed first in B Grade and second in the Veteran Category in the Skeet Champion of Champions.

Matthew De Paoli has done WA proud.  He placed fourth in the All-Australian Team and second in the Glen Cup Team.  The Glen Cup Team will compete against New Zealand in Australia in 2024.  Members are (in ranking order): Michael Buttigieg, Matthew De Paoli, David O’Sullivan, Anthony Ballarino, and Lorraine Hughes.
